  • Arlette Ludgate
    Head Veterinarian & Practice Owner

Arlette is the main veterinarian at the practice and her true passion is making every one of her patients' lives better. She loves the variety of treating all species and enjoys going out on farm visits when possible. Her particular areas of professional expertise are feline internal medicine, companion animal dentistry and dermatology.

Arlette is also the practice owner.  She bought the practice in October of 2012.  She is married to a farmer and they farm in York.  They currently still live in Stoneville and have two young children as well as a menagerie of animals.  Klara, Arlette's new German Shepherd, is always with her and you are likely to see her at the veterinary hospital where she is eager to come out and great everyone (although she is still learning her clinic manners!).

Arlette became a vet in her 30's when she realised it was one of her true passions in life, yet the one thing she had not done.  She went back to study and graduated from Murdoch University in 2007 with honours.  Since then, she has worked as a vet in Narrogin, Dongara, Mundaring and Kalamunda.  Before that, she worked as a psychologist in business, working with people to accept change.  She absolutely loves animals, is very people focused and supremely service orientated.  She enjoys providing the people of Bakers Hill (and the wider area) with an excellent and compassionate veterinary service.

Professionally, she is very comfortable treating all animals (large and small), but her great loves are cats, dogs and cattle.

  • Kari Luobikis

We are lucky to have Kari back with us for 1-2 days a week. Kari has worked at Bakers Hill Veterinary Hospital on and off since January 2013. Kari is an excellent all round vet but her true passion and now also expertise is emergency and critical care.

Kari graduated from Murdoch University in 2006 and spent her first 2 years in equine practice after completing an internship in equine medicine and intensive care at Ohio State University.

In 2008 Kari moved to Port Hedland to co-manage the South Hedland Veterinary Hospital where she gained extensive experience in medicine, surgery and practice management in an extremely busy, remote area hospital. She went to Cairns for a few years but returned to her roots in WA where she has spent the last few years at the Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre.

Kari and her husband have recently purchased a property in Wooroloo.

In her spare time, Kari competes with her two horses in dressage and eventing and spends time with her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

  • Lindley Cassidy
    Veterinary Nurse

A country girl with a love and passion for horses, Lindley joined the practice as a veterinary nurse in 2016. Lindley was raised on a rural property with horses, sheep, cattle and many more animals. Her love and passion for animals have been present throughout her life and are very evident. She lives locally in the Avon Valley area where she and her husband have bought their dream property and have built their dream home.

She worked in a variety of jobs from Jillaroo, farm hand to hospitality and customer service but found she wanted to do more and in 2012 completed her Veterinary Nursing studies. She started working in a small animal practice in Perth where she stayed for nearly 4 years before moving to the Northam shire.

Lindley got married in 2016 to a lovely husband who supports her love of animals and horses as well as her competitive side. She has 3 of her own horses (all thoroughbreds off the track) and one which she competes for a friend. Her main equestrian passion is eventing but she will give most things a go if they involve horses. I has four other fur babies – two dogs and two cats, all of which she has rescued and has had since a young age. Lindley coaches regularly at the York pony club and she always tries to give back to her sport by helping with the running of events whenever she can.

Lindley loves being a vet nurse and could think of no other job she would rather be in. She enjoys every minute of every day in her role as senior nurse. Lindley particularly enjoys surgical nursing, be in in the hospital or in the field. She loves being hands-on with our patients ensuring that they receive the best care possible from the moment they arrive till the moment they go home.

Lindley is currently on maternity leave

  • Tara Meling
    Veterinary Nurse

Tara joined the team in May 2016 and lives locally in Bakers Hill so you may well see her around town.

Tara’s nursing passions are four legs and a tail! In other words, great and small, she loves them all! In particular, she loves treating horses and working with large animals and she enjoys emergency and critical care nursing. She is also our trained Puppy School nurse.

After completing her training as a Veterinary Nurse in 2012, Tara worked in a small animal practice in Perth until she and her family moved into the local area to have more space for animals. Tara is married and has two small children. She owns a collection of animals, including three dogs, two horses and several chickens. She loves eventing her horses and hopes to get back to high level competition when her children have grown a little bit older.

Tara is studying psychology in her free time and feels that her psychology degree will benefit the care and compassion she dedicates to your animals every day. She enjoys a chat and can’t wait to see you and your pets at the clinic!

Tara is currently on maternity leave.
